Home Care Package

Caring for you, Right at Home

Home Care Packages Are Now Support At Home

From 1 November 2025, Home Care Packages transitioned to the new Support at Home program, designed to provide simpler, more flexible support for older Australians to remain living independently at home.

Participants who transitioned kept funding equivalent to their previous Home Care Package level. Those approved for a Home Care Package before 31 October 2025 moved into the Support at Home Priority System and will receive equivalent funding when available.

Understanding your Home Care Packages (HCP)

Home Care Packages are government-funded programs that help older Australians stay living safely and comfortably in their own home for longer, instead of moving into an aged care home.

If you are approved for a package, the government provides funding based on the level of care and support you need. A Home Care Package provider then helps organise services for you, such as help with cleaning, showering, meals, nursing care, transport, shopping, or social activities. The aim is to make everyday life easier and help you stay independent.

Home Care Package Level 1

Basic care needs

A Level 1 Home Care Package is for older Australians who need a little extra help at home with everyday tasks like cleaning, cooking meals, shopping, getting to appointments, or help with showering and dressing.

Home Care Package Level 2

 Low care needs

A Level 2 Home Care Package is for older Australians who need regular help at home with everyday things like cleaning, cooking, shopping, getting to appointments, personal care, and health services.

Home Care Package Level 3

Intermediate care needs

A Level 3 Home Care Package is for older Australians who need a fair bit of help with daily tasks like cleaning, cooking, shopping, personal care, transport, as well as nursing or health services if needed

Home Care Package Level 4

High care needs

A Level 4 Home Care Package is highest level of funding and support for older Australian who need a lot of help to stay safe and comfortable living at home.
